Interview with Cem Çelik
Question 1: Whats your name?
Cem: “My name is Cem.”
Question 2: Where are you located?
Cem: “I live in Istanbul, Turkey.”
Question 3: Are there any specific themes or ideas you try to per sway through your photography?
Cem: “Actually not any specific themes, but i am inspired by natüre.”
Question 4: What’s your take on how some photographers are are born for photography vs photographers that have to work harder towards being more creative, ect?
Cem: “Photography is actually a perspective for me. The increase of digital machines in our age, even with smartphones taking beautiful pictures, photography has gained a different dimension.”
“So you don't need to work real hard anymore to be creative. Take photos and consume! No one has any worries about being good or creative. Only the number of followers and the number of like you got is important. And that’s it.”
“ That's where those who give value to this business come into play. Perspective is anyone that can take pictures but not everyone has a good perspective. I also believe this comes as a natural talent. Separating good photographers from all other photographers is basically natural talent.”
Question 5: Do you think mindset is important when it comes to being a creative artist like a photographer?
Cem: “Of course. I totally believe that. As I said I am inspired by nature and constantly took trips to nature. I use analog machines. So you may guess i have the opportunity to test new films and different machines. Natural texture of my photos, nature itself and objects that i encountered on the road’ it all reflects the temperament of me and my photos. All of this is what feeds my creativity in my work.”
Question 6: Where do you see photography in the future?
Cem: “More digital, more artificial, I see it as a simple act that everyone does. (Unfortunately)
It's time to stop putting a meaning into it.”
Question 7: how has photography been for you for the past year?
Cem: “It was really great actually. I had the opportunity to test my new analogue machines with beautiful camera films. And done lots of camping. I have great videos during the camp, also captured great photos.”
Question 8: What’s your definition of passion?
Cem: “My passion is to create great work.”
